About GCA
Africa is full of organisations doing extraordinary work with too little money. Grant Catalyst Africa was built to change the ratio.
Our Story
Grant Catalyst Africa began with a frustration: too many brilliant African organisations were losing grants — not because their work was weak, but because nobody had taught them how funders actually decide.
Our founder, Gibson Gisore Nyariki, had spent years on the strategic-partnerships and fundraising side of the table. He had watched donor meetings get derailed by avoidable mistakes. He had seen organisations fail to pitch their own brilliance. He had also seen what changes when somebody who knows the playbook sits on the same side as the applicant.
GCA exists to make that playbook accessible to every African organisation that needs it. We believe grants should flow to where the impact is. Our work is to clear the path between the two.
What We Stand For
01
Our analysis starts from the African context, not transplanted frameworks. We centre African voices, data, and priorities.
02
Every page, figure, and claim must withstand scrutiny from a programme officer at the Ford Foundation, FCDO, or Gates.
03
Grants intelligence should not sit behind paywalls or consulting fees. Our free tier is genuinely useful.
04
Numbers reconcile. Claims have sources. Case studies have named partners. No vanity metrics.
05
Every artefact we publish — grant listing, insight, case study — is built to be found, cited, and reused for years.
06
Design with confidence, write with clarity, move with urgency.
